The Locking Dance Style
I often get asked what advice I would give to someone that’s looking to get started and learn the locking (Campbellocking) dance style. Here I’ll indulge you in the advice I like to dish out.
The first piece of advice I give out always remains unchanged. That advice is this: go get a locking teacher. A good locking teacher can take you from a complete beginner to an accomplished locker if you be the good student and practise and apply what you learn.
When you learn from a teacher, you will get to learn about how to do the moves and what makes the style work. You also have other benefits such as being able to learn from the teachers’ experience and past mistakes they may have made when learning themselves.
If your teacher is not someone you will meet in real life but a virtual teacher then I would recommend learning from a DVD rather than individual locking tutorials. Tutorials are good for getting started but are never going to be as complete as a DVD will.
A DVD is much more likely to offer you a more complete training, as well as shed some insight into the dance and style as a whole rather than just be centred around certain popular moves.
Speed Boat Fuel Saving Hints
A day’s fun with friends or family should always have to be costly. Most argue that since you can afford to purchase a craft, you care less for fuel cost. As an owner, this is not always the case. Here’s how you can save on fuel with your boat:
Fuel saving begins in choosing the correct boat. Forgive me if this sounds like a remedial but this is significant and if you can bear with me here, you’ll see my point. When obtaining a vessel, you must consider the length of the boat and the type of engine it uses. Obviously, length means higher fuel consumption as it is heavier and creates more air and water drag depending on the brand and the purpose. It is important, as a consequence, that you do your investigation on different types of craft. There are not much of them in the marketplace; this ought not to be so hard.
Billiard Supplies
Ranging from the billiard cues that you use, till the kind of billiard balls that you need. Each and everything that you can imagine matters when it comes to the game of billiards, apart from that, you need to realize that billiard supplies tend to provide for excellent advantages in the long run.
Apart from that, you will on occasion note that some of the billiard supplies out there are of the best advantage in the long run. You will find hundreds if not thousands of retailers out there that will provide you options.
Though, before you go ahead and purchase anything, you need to make sure that you are getting exactly what you are looking for. Make sure that you are checking out the reviews for the website as well which will in turn help you in insuring that you get the best possible deals in the long term for any kind that you might be looking for.
Apart from that, you need to make sure that when it comes to getting billiard supplies, you have read all the reviews and are familiar with the kind of supplies that you need. You would be better off in making sure that you have some sort of a listing available as to what kind of billiard supplies do you need in the first place.
Cornell Basketball
While Cornell basketball is only one of the 36 varsity sports at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York it is the one sport that most Americans think of when their minds wander to Cornell athletics (which is not very often).
Cornell basketball made history during the 2009-2010 season by cracking into the top 25 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll for the first time in decades. In fact, the last time the Cornell Big Red hoops team was ranked in the top 25 Harry Truman was in office and the date was January 3, 1951. That date marks over 59 years between appearances in the top 25 polls.
Lessons From Lou Holtz
Athlete Assessments recently had the great pleasure of being invited to the US Lacrosse Coaching Conference in Baltimore, MD. A significant highlight was hearing Lou Holtz’s keynote presentation about his philosophy on coaching and life.
For those who do not know Lou Holtz, he is a legend in US College football coaching and is the only coach in NCAA history to lead six different programs to bowl games. He is also a multiple winner of National Coach of the Year honors.
These are the key messages I took note of and trust you will also find inspiring and educational:
Note 1: Coaching is about influencing the lives of young people. It is a role of true significance and meaning, never should it be about money. It is fundamentally about building relationships with young people.
Note 2: A great quote about Leadership, “I can name you the coach, but I can not name you the leader. Leaders are named from below.”
Note 3: Coaching is a leadership role. As such, coaches are to have a vision and are accountable for the choices they make. Above all, coaching is about “Obligations and Responsibilities”. Never is coaching about “Rights and Privileges.”
