Too small a generator will not store or produce enough power to adequately run the appliances on the boat therefore, the bigger it is and the more blades it has the more power it will produce. Another factor that will determine the amount energy that can be produced is the wind speed. While out sailing you may have to experiment and change the positioning of the boat to ensure you capture the full force of the wind.

Another benefit of having a marine generator installed on your boat is that energy can be used on demand making it a great option for backup power in case the engine keeps cutting out. Look for marine wind generators that have noise reduction filters as without them they can be quite noisy when the wind is up.
